Pastor Jack Perkins was born in Deatsville, Alabama on May 8, 1954.  He was raised in the Church of God in Prattville, Alabama, and was saved January 8, 1968.  In 1970, at the age of 16, Pastor Perkins was called to the Ministry.

Growing up in Elmore Alabama, he graduated from Stanhope Elmore High School in 1972.  In 1973, he married Ruby Hollenquest, and they have been married for 44 years.  They have three children, a set of twin boys and one daughter, six grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren.

Pastor Perkins started working for Ford Motor Company in September, 1973.  He worked as an hourly employee at the Michigan Casting Plant in Flatrock, Michigan for 5 years, and was promoted to Supervisor of hourly employees.  He attended Ford Motor Company’s Supervisory Institute and completed all requirements.  This position lasted for 10 years.

In 1980, he attended the National Institute of Technology in Livonia, Michigan, where he majored in Advanced Computer Programming.  Upon graduating, he became a driving instructor for the Sears, Hudson, and Montgomery Ward Driving Schools for a year.  The National Institute of Technology hired him as their Computer Operator and Programmer.  He also served there for a year.

In 1983, he was recalled to Ford’s Sharonville Transmission plant, and served as Supervisor of Manufacturing Operations for 20 years.  He also served as Diversity Trainer for their Matter of Respect Program, training over 2,000 employees, including the plant management staff, as well as all hourly workers, in diversity, sexual harassment, workers with disabilities, and racial tolerance.  He also served on the Equal Application Committee and as Safety Trainer for powered vehicles.

In 1979, Pastor Perkins became a member of Southwestern Church of God under the leadership of Pastor Lawrence P. Wyatt, working with the Youth Ministry. He also worked as a backup Sunday school teacher, and was a regular speaker for the Nursing Home Ministry, of which he loved very much.

In 1983, he became a member of the Owen and Lane Street Church of God in Hamilton, Ohio, where he served for 2 years, under the leadership of Pastor Dennis Kidd.  After Pastor Dennis Kidd was called away to Pastor in Detroit, Michigan, Pastor Perkins was selected as Senior Pastor in Hamilton.

Under Pastor Perkins’ leadership, the Church in Hamilton began to grow and needed larger facilities.  They purchased a new church in the downtown Hamilton area and were able to burn the mortgage in 7 years.  God proved Himself to be faithful.

After the death of Dr. Lawrence P. Wyatt, Pastor Perkins accepted the call of God and the Southwestern Church of God family to become Pastor in February 2009.
